Short Story - Surfing With William

Broadcast Journalist

Lisa started broadcast journalism with Highland Radio in Donegal where she worked in the newsroom for four years covering several key events such as the Bloody Sunday Tribunal and the historic launch of the North South Ministerial Council.

She then went on to produce the award winning magazine programme; 'The Shaun Doherty Show'. During this time, Lisa also produced and presented many well-received documentary strands. She served as Head of News and Current Affairs at the station and her final stint with Highland Radio was as host of the weekly all female, current affairs/arts panel show; 'The Red Room' which broadcast up until the end of 2011.

Print Journalist

Lisa Burkitt began working as a print journalist when she helped co-found, 'The Finn Valley Voice' newspaper.

Over a five year period, Lisa also worked as a weekly columnist for various local newspapers; The Donegal Democrat; Donegal on Sunday and the Northern Ireland based, Sunday Journal.She has also been a contributory reporter to Film Ireland Magazine.

Lisa has also been shortlisted in several short film competitions, while one of her scripts, 'Surfing With William' was made into a short film by the Northern Ireland Film Commission and aired on UTV. It features a very young Nadine Coyle, long before her 'Girls Aloud' debut!
